SORN question

Featured Replies

I know this isnt really a skoda question but the DVLA take so long to answer anything. My felicia is sat at home on the drive declared SORN. The MOT, Tax and Insurance have all run out.

Now I'm having difficulties getting my head around how I put it back on the road.

I dont think i can drive it without insurance, but can I get insurance without an MOT? and the Tax I know I can't get with out insurance etc, I've been going around in circles.

How do I sort this one and get back on the road!?

Thanks guys

You can insure it, but would still have to transport it to a MOT station, once MOT'd then you can tax it. (iirc you can drive it to and from mot station without the mot but don't think you can without tax so left transporting by trailer in anycase ) hth

As postmanpat said, you can get insurance no problem. You can also drive to/from an MOT station without Tax or valid MOT as long as the appointment at the MOT station has been booked in advance and you are driving the most direct route.

Ah was unsure about driving without the tax :o

its fine!

Get it insured then you MUST BOOK an MOT at you nearest MOT station.

You can drive it to and from the MOT legally as long as the car is insured.

When it passes, drive it home, or straight to the post office and get the tax!

sorted!

ok thanks guys, massively quick response!

It does seem odd however that you can insure a car without an MOT wouldnt you agree??

Insurance is taking money off you, and you would be covered F&T whilst un MOT'd doubt they would actually pay out if you had a smash in it tho unless you could proove travelling to from a pre booked MOT and even then if they could proove negligence on your part ( eg massively corroded brakes) doubt they would pay out other than to a 3rd party and then chase you for for recompense. (cynical , me never :P)

ha ha yeah, who would ever be cynical about insurance companies. great, thansk for sorting that all out, just leaves me to get the leak sorted, at the moment only thing that works is putting it in the garage!

insurance company's are more than happy to insure a car thats off the road. no chance of them having to pay out for a crash that way lol
