Finally got a Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Its been a while since my last post. Well, in fact my last post was my first post. I was a Nissan Almera driver:thumbup: and i was looking to buy a Fabia VRS. Well now, 4 months later i have got one.

My new ride is an 04 Fabia VRS in Silver. Its mainly standard but with a few factory options that include cruise control and CD changer. I bought it from a local Toyota Dealer - Arnold Clark in Ayr. It has 56000 miles on the clock with full skoda service history and 1 previous owner. The Dealer done an oil change, timing belt replacement, put 3 new tyres on it and put a full years MOT on it as part of the deal.

So after 4 years of, honestly, faulty motoring with my trusty Almera with now over 115000 miles on the clock, on the 28th February i waved bye bye and collected my new ride.

On a drive later that night, whilst over taking another vehicle in fifth gear, i noticed clutch slip. I promptly visited the garage the next day to get it booked in to be looked at. The car went into the garage on the 4th March but no problems were found with the clutch. I had however noticed that the OSR door was leaking so a new door seal was ordered up.

On the 10th March i revisited to get the door seal fitted. Having had heavy rain i noticed that the NSR door was now leaking so i pointed this out to the garage. On collecting the vehicle i asked what had been done and i was informed that the OSR door seal had been fitted and both carriers had been resealed onto the door shells. I was glad at having this done as i know its recognised as being a fault. I know they were done because, unfortunately, the mechanic left broken door clips in the rear footwells.

My main concern however is the clutch. Since i noticed it slipping i have resorted to driving the car like a petrol. i.e. chainging down everytime i want to increase my speed. I have worked in the motor trade for 14 years and i know that its quite expensive to replace. You see i got a 30 day warranty with the car so i would like peoples opinion as to what they would do.

Would they drive the car as its meant to be driven and hope that the clutch slips like F**K so that it gets replaced under warranty or would they drive like the accelator pedal is a feather and eek out every last mile out the clutch?

I look forward to your opinions. One other thing theres two Fabia VRS's parked outside the garage. One red and one silver. Belong to anyone here?

Cheers

Personally, I wouldnt drive it hard as the clutch might go on day 31 and then you'll be spending cash on a new one yourself.

But anyway, welcome....

Get a "local garage" (not Arnold Shark) to bleed the clutch, and then give you an opinion on whether it's slipping or not.

That said AS were ok about honouring my warranty, and not asking me to go a considerable distance to one of their branches when I'd an issue with mine.

Welcome :)
