Crazy Long-Short Fuel Trim

Featured Replies

Hi all, I own a Fabia 1.2 12V 3 cyl, gasoline, code engine AZQ, year 2004.

At idle Long Fuel Trims value is -4 -3 and over 2000 RPM, Long Fuel Trims value becomes +11 +13 ( only around 1200 RPM LFT = 0).

If I'm stopped and then I start moving, there is a little "hole" like the engine was suffocated.

Sometimes, after a long trip at constant speed/load/RPM, suddenly LFTs rise by 3-4 points and some other times it fall down by the same 3-4 points... and of course Short Fuel Trims compensate subtracting or adding the same.

Plus, when the engine is cold, now it starts below 1000 RPM, but I remember when new, my car started near 1200 RPM! Mechanics told me it's normal that the engine starts below 1000 RPM! Was it wrong when new?

I cleaned by myself MAF sensor with no results.

Mechanics told me all sensors are OK because there is no MIL activated, they changed fuel pump, lambda sensor and water temperature sensor, cleaned throttle body but my car remains the same, exept a little increase in power during the acceleration. I drive very gently with light foot but my car drinks a lot, ~7 litres/100 km.

When LFTs are > 10, I note a lack of power and when (rarely) LFTs fall down at 8, I noted that power comes back.

Does anyone noted the same behaviour and solved? Is there something else that mechanics failed to check?

If needed, I can post graphics and data recorded with OBDGauge.

Thanks in advance for your kind reply.
