New VRS...

Featured Replies

Firstly sorry if i'm repeating somebody else's thread, its been a while since i've visited.

Secondly I am not saying that this is the new VRS.

Does anybody think the new VRS should be styled similar to the Fabia Super 2000?

See ?koda Auto - Homepage for more details on the super 2000

ok i'll rephrase, i don't understand what you mean by can i have the tenner this time

If they got a tenner for every time the new vRS was mentioned... they'd be millionaires ;)

There's no "hard" evidence that it's going to appear... Wikipedia say in May with the lauch of the new common rail engine... Auto Express say Sept/Oct this year :P

The dealers say not... but then again - if you had a load of Fabia Sport's to shift and you knew a new car was coming out... would you say anything??? :D

HAHAHA!!!

In all seriousness, i hope it doesnt look like that.

There needs to be a difference between the two, s2000 & VRS...

lol. i just wanted peoples views on the super 2000, maybe i shouldn't have mentioned vrs

OK. The s2000 has come at the wrong time, a few have already developed there cars for two years so may not stand a chance, but as for looks, then its a clear winner!

If I had ten pounds for every time someone mentioned inflation.....

I'll answer....

I like the S2000, BUT I would not like to see such outrageous styling on the new vRS if it appears.

Changing the bumpers on the new one, spoiler etc makes the outside look different, but they will need to sort out the way the new one handles and I hope they are taking notes from the testing on the S2000.

Obviously it won't have 4wd (shame :D) but IMHO, they got loads to do top make it a looker as at the moment, I would not buy the basic car.

Ben

I do indeed demand another ten pounds

Spoke to the Cannock Skoda dealer on friday when car was in for service. He said that either the 1.4 engine or "ultra high powered diesel" (mentioned 220bhp!!) but that that he couldn't be sure.

Basically he didn't have a clue but didn't want to admit it. Said that Skoda were keeping it quiet, He also mentioned vRS later this year or early next, but again don't think he really knew.

Mark

Yes!

Another tenner!

Do you know what i say if a customer asks?

"Dunno"

Im being truthful arnt i?

Fabia vRS = Dunno :D

I did hear something about it using the engine out of the Golf 1.4 GT which pushes out 170bhp. Would make sense methinks. On the styling, obviously they won't go all flared with the arches like the s2000, but I do think they'll lift a few bits and pieces for the vrs. Think a more subtle version of the s2000. Just my opinion, I doubt Skoda even know what's happening :P.

I disagree that it has come at the wrong time. The only real works opposition comes from Peugeot and Fiat, but Skoda have been working on the car for well over a year. They don't want to begin competition with it until they are confident it is ready.

Actually I think it is just the right time to be developing an S2000 car as it looks like the WRCar rules are going to change to S2000+Turbo in the not too distant future.

i think the best comment on the new Fabia vRS can be found in the TopGear magazine.

in the "data" section at the back where they show the stats and some advice for every car. they have a "don't be fooled by...." section, with examples like:

Citroen C1/Aygo/107

Don't be fooled by....differences in marketing, they really are the same car

for the new Fabia, it says:

Don't be fooled by.....waiting for a vRS - it's a while off yet.

Was down at my local dealership today discussing servicing for my impending Fabia and asked about this. With a chuckle, he said it'll be '09 maybe even '10 before we see it. Powered by a petrol 1.4 tfsi (170bhp-ish) allegedly. Though, he was quick to say nobody has seen hide nor hair of one (they were over at one of the factories earlier this year apparently).

The Fabia vRS Mk1 was made on a seperate line I was told by a dealer... maybe they just didn't see them, or it was still in development?

Problem is the 1.4 TSi will be an old engine by 2010...lol.
