Quicktime installment issues

Featured Replies

Hi

got invited to help a retired friend with their computer - they were having issues watching movie clips of thir grandchildren, and I, as a young(ish) person who "knows computers" was asked if I could help.

perplexing issue:

icons for both the setup.exe and the full Quicktime program appear on their desktop, but the program will neither run, install, or uninstall (using either add/remove in the control panel, or "uninstall quicktime" in the program menus)

it's bizarre - it's not completely there, so won't uninstall, but soe of it is there, so won't install.

any ideas ?

And on a side note, could this be related to another problem they are having viewing both themselves and the other party during a Skype video call. I don't have skype, so kno nothing about it, but it's not the video card or the webcam.

Try a system restore and see if you are able to uninstall quicktime. You could try quicktime alternative - available here:

QuickTime Alternative

i use quicktime alternative too

lots of useful stuff at filehippo.com - Download Free Software

ccleaner has an uninstall utility as well as registry fixer and general tidyup feature and is free - may help getting rid of quicktime
