I'd be tempted as well. OK, it's 'only' a tuning box, but a Dragon is the only one worth considering IMO.

Think Ric runs one on his Fabia and it got pretty decent gains at the last Awesome RR day. He's run one for a while and I've not heard of any issues.

I'd give it a whirl. I'm sure it'll be easily saleable again, probably with no loss at all - should it not work out for you.

Yeah, I am more than well aware of the difference between this and a remap and think this is a good comprimise for the cash.

I didn't really want to remap the Roomster but driving to west wales yesterday really annoyed with the overtaking and now i am wanting more power. Damn Fabia has been gone nealry 6 months and I still miss it like mad.

I also want it to be removable and there are very few solutions for the PD 105 that are so it seems like a goer! I was just wondering if anyone had any tales of woe about one

Only thing I've found with tuning boxes on other cars is that if the level is too high you will pop on the Engine warning light.

If you have VAG COM I'd start it lowish and work up until you are happy. If the light comes on then back off one or two reset the light and try it on the setting for a while.

Much better value than a remap and a lot easier to remove without a trace come resale time.

I'd say go for it. Dragon will even change the paramaters if you want for a cost.

Buy, what have you got to loose. You can easily sell it on for what you will pay for it, if you don't like it, but then I'm sure you'll end up keeping it.

I know what you mean though, I miss my Fabia sooooooooooo much, except when it comes to load lugging. I do regret buying the Roomster at times, which is perhaps why I put down my order for a Tiguan without a seconds thought.

One thing though the 105 tdi really does loosen up with mileage and can be quite punchy on the motorway, the db has even dropped slightly, that was another bugbear of mine.

Fitted it this afternoon.

Dead easy, took about 10 minutes (would have been 5 except for the stupid block connector being a pain to line up), calibrated it, put it in the nylon bag it came with (Water proofing?) and drove home. I have only done about 15 miles on it but it's a great improvement further up the rev range with obviously more power kicking in past the turbo making it much smoother and much quicker. I would not have been dissapointed if I had that response from a remap let alone a £150 box.

It still has to settle down a bit and I need to get it on some decent roads to give it a good work out but I am all for it ATM Ill post a proper review in a few weeks.

Read the small print in the e-bay advert. It says for 1998 - 2006 VAG PD engines. Aren't all Roomsters 2007 and therefore Euro IV compliant? Up to 2006 may only have been Euro III compliant.

I don't want to alarm you, and I may be barking up the wrong tree, but this is a point I would have checked before buying. I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

No, the box in question is set up for the Roomster (Actually the MkV Golf with the same engine and they are all Euro IV) so it's fine when it comes to that.
