Has anyone ever fitted a remote start car alarm to their fabia if so does it work ok with it being a diesel or ever had any problems getting it fitted, been looking at the aftermarket new clifford 5.5 dont want the furby going missing.

Dont forget, you are not supposed to start a diesel until the glowplug light goes out. The ignition key has 3 positions ,after the off position. Then second position ,where the glowplugs are turned on.Then finally the starter position. You would need to have two buttons on the remote to start the car correctly. You could also do it by having a timer circuit ,and electronics,at the car end. The idea being you press the start button on the remote the glowplugs are heated for a timed period (at the same time any other remote control signal would be locked out to stop overidding the timer).When the time period is up either another push of the remote ,or the extra car electronics switch the actual starter motor on for a set time to start the car!.

You can see a diesel car is not ideal to be started!.

You will also have issues with your insurance company, because you will be invalidating the thatcham rating of the onboard imobiliser which needs to be bypassed for the remote start to work (if indeed a remote start could even work).
