Insurance for a Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I am coming up to my second years of no claims and am seriously considering a Fabia vRS as my next car.

However I have a problem. I've been trying a few online quotes to see what the price would be for a vRS with 2 years no claims. and it keeps saying "Unable To Quote". This happens with most of popular companies like Directline (current insurer), Tesco, Quinn Direct, etc.

Now here's the point I don't understand.

I can insure a SEAT Ibiza FR for around £700. It's the same insurance group as the vRS (Group 9) and im not wrong in thinking they are identical engines? I really don't understand why I can't insure the vRS. I can get insurance on my dad's Octavia Mk1 1.9 TDI 110BHP which if I remember right is insurance group 12.

The only thing I can put it down to is that they are more popular and perhaps more have been involved in bumps? I often see Cat D vRS's on eBay

Any ideas on where to get cheap insurance? I will be modifying in the future so any insurance companies that are more modding friendly than most would be good.

now bud im was 19 when i took my insurance out on my furby vrs i too add two years no claims and i pay £1100 an that was with swift car insurance

Hi mate, im 21 with 1 year no claims plus a crash!

Was with Tesco and they wouldnt insure me as i had to have 2year ncb plus i think some companies see the vRS as a sort after proformance vehicle !

So im with (swiftcover.co.uk) an online insurer now and paying around £700per year!

Hope this helps!

Matt

Keep searching the www. there will be companies out there who will insure you.

Seeing x amount of cars advertised as insurance cat repaired will have no bearing on if someone will insure you.

The joys of getting old.......25, 4yrs NCB = £300 fully comp:cool:

Admiral have been reasonable for me - was about 550 for 10 months I think - as long as you read the terms and conditions and know exactly what's covered by your policy in terms or replacements and valuing of your car.

But yea - there's lots of stuff on here regarding accidents with the VRS and it being a 'risk' vehicle....some people can get much higher insurance group cars for a lower premium.

I've found Admiral to be something of a bargain!

Just got a quote from Swift Cover. £790 which is pretty much the same as what Directline wanted for a SEAT Ibiza FR

Thanks

We are with Chris Knott - moved from AON this year - £330 fully comp, with business, and all mods declared :)

PS We are both in our 30s! ;)

Chris Knottt pretty good & give Briskoda discount

Its really a lottery, just keep trying. You will even find some brokers have more clout with companies than others & will get different rates etc with the same company

£203.00, full ncd with protection, legal cover and replacement car included.

Also unlimited foreign use including the wife to drive.

Beat that! :D

Now that is impressive! :) Are you over 50? ;)

No, but I am a member of the IAM.

Right another problem. Swiftcover insure a standard VRS for £790 but the special edition it wont quote me for. I checked why and it says I'm not old enough. I don't understand. It's the same power and I hardly think a few luxury extra qualify for them not being able to insure me. Any ideas? Swiftcover are the only ones so far to give me a reasonable quote on a Fabia VRS

try co-operative insurance (cis.co.uk), they did a much better price than others would for my SE, and it was correctly listed, unlike the Admiral database, which thinks that a "Fabia VRS Ltd Edition" is a 4-door saloon.

to use briskoda on Chris Knott do you need to be a fully paid up member of Briskoda, or just a registered member of the forum?
