VRS TDI - Fired Up!!

Featured Replies

Anybody had electrical problems (fire) with Octy Vrs tdi ?? Mine has melted the fuse box and burned some of the loom. Heated Rear Window and loose connection appears the culprit. Skoda very interested. Car 8 months old - 35k Kms:eek:

A loose connection will normally cause more heat to be localised when high currents, such as heated windows, are drawn.

Quite a few miles for 8 months on the road.

Stu is right, a loose connection will draw the same current through less connector, hence heat it up to point where it can melt things, ignite the insulation etc.

Glad Skoda are interested!

Bad news, nice to hear they are looking after you. Any idea where in particular the loose connection was.......maybe worth a check

Skoda will be very interested, the treat fire claims very carefully (and quite rightly so) there is a massive form for the dealer to fill out and Skoda will want to inspect it I would think.

heard today they are sending two gentlemen from the factory (C.R) had 2 from dublin last week car still sitting - dealer has a loom but not 2 keen to fit it. \\Car was a joy - delighted with it.

traded from merc c220 cdi pile of probs with no back up-

Will your insurers write it off do you think?

Loom fitting is really time consuming and requires lots of dismantling.

The looms come in sections though, but I doubt it will be written off - Skoda will simply repair it I'm sure - no need for insurers to get involved imho. :)

I trust your next service will be free! ;)
