"service 1000 miles" on dash.

Featured Replies

Hi, tried searching and having a few problems finding any posts to answer my question... so here I go..:confused:

Reccently had the car serviced by a non-skoa dealer... (at 42k)... Previous services were done at 12k, 22k and 32k... I've now got to 44k and when I turn the ignition on it's reading "service 1000 miles". First question is... do I need to get it to someone with VAG COM to turn this off or can I twist some ***** and flick some buttons to turn it off..

2nd question is what does VAG COM stand for... (volkswagon audi group... comm? software stuff?).

And finally... why is it popping up at 44k... is this something to do with fixed/variable servicing (of which I don't completely get)?

Any help would be appreciated...

anyone?

Random fact for you VAG doesnt stand for Volkswagen Audi Group.

It stands for Volkswagenwerk Aktiengesellschaft which translates to Volkswagen Corporation

But yes VAG COM is a diagnostic tool that works from a PC/Laptop, lots of info on it on the web.

Its probably popping up because either its not been reset or it hasnt been reset correctly.

You can rest it by the dash buttons (its in your manual).

Doh don't have manual :(, but friend has octavia so will be borrowing his soon, thanks:cool:

Taken from page 70 of the owners manual;

Reset the service interval display with the reset kn0b of the trip counter as follows;

Switch off the ignition and press the reset kn0b of the trip counter below the speedometer and hold.

Switch on the ignition and release the reset kn0b. The message 'service' or 'service now' appears in the display.

Turn the kn0b for setting the clock to the right until the message is reset.
