Octavia wheels, 18"?

Featured Replies

Hey just wondering if anyone knows whether 18"s will go straight on to Octavia with 15"s on already, or will there need to be any modifications done? also if anyone has done this, do you recommend lowering it after the wheels are on, as i'm not sure what sort of gap there will be between the arches and the wheels. was thinking of putting on some Audi RS4's on there. any help or suggestions for wheels welcome. cheers guys!

No modifications necessary. My Octy had stock 15 inch wheels and now rolls on 18x7.5. I recommend lowering it since it will look like a tractor if you don't :)

hi

ive got 18 rs4s on mine they look great, mine catch the rear bumper a bit only when more than 2 people in but think its due too weak suspension,

look good even without lowering mines a vrs so maybe slightly lower?

Hi,

I've got 18" RS4 alloys fitted, lowered 30mm & they have never catched yet.

did you have to use spacers at all? and do you have the old RS4s or the new styles ones? because i can't decide between them!

mine started to catch when fitted new tyres, had yokos, put cheapies on now, ever since they catch, wierd

The front shocks are standard at the moment, I have koni adjustable shocks fitted at the rear, but the tyres never rubbed with the standard shocks fitted. I have Nankang 225/40/18 tyres fitted

I have the old RS4 alloys fitted. I didn't have any spacers fitted. They are 8x18 alloys, but I don't know what ET they are. They look very wide, but they don't stick out & on full lock they are close to the innerwheel arch, but don't rub.

They are probably the only set i've seen apart from the spiders than suite the octavia.

How much did the set cost you?

Sagging springs? Blown shocks? ICE in the trunk? Taller tires? All of those could be causing rubbing on the rear fenders. What tire size do you have now compared to your old Yokos?

Car loks v.good Oggy. See you have had bump strips etc colour coded? Can I ask how much? Have you ever thought about removing the side rub strips? + whats next?

Well.. I must admit they are replicas. People don't like them as they are heavier, but I'm not going to be racing the car. They cost me £450 with tyres, but I was faced with having to replace all four tyres on the standard alloys. I bought these & sold the standard alloys on to someone with a Fabia for £250, so in affect only cost me £200. It gave me chance to buy other things for the car.

The cost of colour coding of the bump strips wasn't much as I have a friend who works as a sprayer in a bodyshop. I had to buy new door strips for him to spray & just swapped them over. The bumper inserts were in good condition & he sprayed them to keep the cost down.

I had thought about removing the door strips, but there is too many idiots that don't care about other peoples cars & felt that there was more of a chance of dents put into the doors with them removed.

Whats next?? I fancy some side skirts to cover the sills, but I'm having trouble finding some that I like or looks chavy.

Also I'm going to fit some Milotec bumper inserts.

hellraiser? quality name

same tyres 225/40/18, the yokos seemed to curve off towards edges ,

tyres i have now seem higher ish and slightly wider even though same size?

i was thinking wheels maybe wrong but was fine before

What psi are you running them?

Thanks mate, I've been looking at these on ebay. My vrs only has 16s so keen to upgrade them at some point (although won't be for a while now).

What is the quality like for £450 and are the tyres anygood?

I wonder how much heavier they'd be from my 16s, something to think about!

ive got 8x18" et 35. R32 (new) wheels on mine looks not bad.

225 40 zr 18 marangoni tyres and mine catch the back arch liners with a full car. am using standard suspention.

unfortunatly i cant find a susp kit that only lowers the car by 20 mm on the front and keeps the back the same.

my splitter catches on the ground if i not careful so cant afford to lower much at all. jus enough to make the front look bit neeter.

i think the max you can fit without modding the arches is 8x19" with 235 35 tyres on.

If you just want to lower the front that much put on some Bonrath caps.

What are the bumper inserts like? Have you seen any VRS's with the side strips removed? I presume they are just glued on?

cheers.
