I have read a few threads on armrests but get mixed reviews on fitting and quality. i have spotted this on fleebay (Click here) and was wondering if it would be any good? not had chance to remove the console between the seats so i have no idea if the brackets will fit. so before i go at my octy with a screw driver like a raving lunatic, could i have some advice from anyone who has atempted this. my greatest worry is the cigarette lighter getting in the way.

It's not a genuine item, it's a copy of the VW unit.

All the mounting points to fit this are in the Octavia, but you're correct about it fouling the lighter socket.

With the genuine VW item, it's easy enough to cut a section out of the mounting foot without causing any problems to the overall strength. I don't know what effect this would have on this mounting foot, though.... I'm not sure that it's as strong as the OEM foot.

Having seen one of these close up, I can say that they're not a patch on the OEM unit. The quality is quite poor IMHO, that said, there's a member on here who has one and is happy with it.
