Uprating Battery/Alternator Power Cables?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've got a pretty decent install in the Fabia and as the car is getting serviced next week its a good opportunity for them to upgrade the 'big 3' as talked about on Talkaudio. This should stop the sub cutting out on higher volumes and stop the light dimming too. Have got a 1 Farad power cap in my bedroom but want to do it properly this time and would rather not use it. Am using 2 runs of 4 guage wiring from the battery to two amps in the boot, and the amps have been earthed by 2 runs of 4 guage cable to the seat or seatbelt bolts I think.

Has anyone done the big 3 on here? What wiring was replaced or added to, and what size cabling have they used?

Hello Irf, you may see me lurking around TA ;)

TB3 will probably only have been done by a few members on here as their isn't too many that into car audio where it would be needed.

You'd be better looking on TA, but essentially look to use 0AWG between alternator and battery positive, battery earth and body and engine earth and body.

CAD sell a kit of bits to do it for around £50.

Hi thanks for that, I'll take a look on CAD. They didn't have time to do it yesterday when it got serviced but I might ask them to do it later next week or something.

Did my last car used o guage for all of it made a bit of difference found that a decent battery made a huge difference.I had a 5lt yellow top and the bass was a lot tighter and smoother.Havent done the octy yet but i will in the summer.
