Gutted...

Was not sure whether to put this in the introduction area of here, but seeing as an Octy is on the radar figured i might as well enter the appropriate forum.

Anyway, we are expecting the patter of tiny feet in a few months so naturally a practical car is needed to ferry said little un around. Of course the sensible solution would be to buy a focus variant, but think i need something just a little more interesting than that, and have always liked the look of a VRS.

Been looking at cars for a good while (is it normal to look at whats for sale everyday even if you dont actually need a replacement?), and with the MX5 sold, we now have room to get a new car; with this in mind i have been searching all the normal places and found one i liked on ebay. Looked a good example, lots of history, reasonable milegage etc definitely worth a bid which is where it all started to go wrong; for the first time ever i decided to use an auction sniper tool (not bothering to check it would work first) and put in my max amount for it to do its stuff. Needless to say, got home to check e-bay and there was the car with a nice sold symbol by it, but not to me, even though my bid was actually higher than the final selling price.....arrrrghh, bloody snipe thing....it is clearly my fault, but i will follow a long tradition of blaming tools.....so there, just wanted to get that off my chest.

Back on/off topic am also a little tempted by the 4x4 version, but am concerned that upon getting it I will wish i got the VRS instead...any thoughts? Also, at the moment my budget is pretty much around the £3 mark; there is however potential for some improvement to £4k , but for this i would be hoping for a pretty decent VRS example with full history, low mileage and maybe around an 02 model....is this more optimistic than realistic?

OK, think that is everything for now...thanks for listening.

Great forum btw

Man i know having kids costs an arm and a leg but surely you can go higher than 3 quid for a car:rofl:

4k seems an ok budget for a VRS i got my 01 plate (was only 4 months off an 02) for £4250 with decent milage and FSH etc and im more than happy with the purchase:thumbup:
