Which Octavia do i need?

Featured Replies

Gud Day,

I'm looking to buy a 1.9 TDI Octavia but i'm after the 130 BHP. I have about £3500 to spend what am i looking for in my price range? Would love a VRS but i love the MPG of my friends superb with the 1.9 TDI 130 BHP.

Peace

Hi welcome.

Yes the 130 is the one to have :D

You'll be stretching to get one for your budget though - only made 2003-4.

Very high mileage privately perhaps, or better mileage quite easily at auction - trouble is they don't come up much.

Leave it 6 months and they should fall comfortably into your budget.

Can't say if it's a good one or not but this looks nice and by the time you've haggled?

Might be worth a look.

Does it have to be an Octavia? That engine was also available in the Passat, Golf, Bora, and Toledo so they might be worth a look too as I think some of them will fall in your price range.... mileage/age will be fairly high though.

Does it have to be the 130 over the 110?

110 has huge potential for remapping etc and although it only gets a 5 speed box is a perfectly capable car for probably a lot less money.

Obviously the 130 has even 'huger' tuning potential (easily to genuine performance car levels).

Most people don't want the hassle/expense/insurance/reliability issues of tuning and as someone who has extensively driven both cars - the 130 is on a totally different level.

The difference in torque as standard is very substantial and the 6-speed box increases your ability to exploit the extra power too.

The 130s are out there, you just have to be a little bit more patient/resourceful.

It's well worth looking for the right car. I knew what I wanted and it took me about 4months to find it but it was well worth the wait. I don't know what the current prices are but I bought mine about 1 year ago for £6,200 on an 04plate with 86,000miles (FSH, ex fleet car & 3months non skoda warranty).
