Wasnt M.S.B Skoda by any chance was it

There are several reasons why it may not have been transported. I'm afraid I think you are at the mercy of the dealers. You could call customer services.

yes it is msb how did you guess, they first told me the car was at a dealers down south, then it is on a boat from france, they are getting eight cars 2 morrow but not mine,i have told them if no defo date by tues i will cancel order as the guy who bought my car wants it tues and i need a car so they have offered to lend me a car,i have a sneaking feeling my car will be there 2 morrow but they cant prep it untill after weekend but they tell that many lies dont know what to believe,oh they also blamed the weather for keeping the boat in port in france, all this is really putting me off skoda im afraid.thought if i could ring distribution centre i would find out when it is actually coming.just cheesed off now.

One reason is that dealers don't have the funds available to buy the car - sort of hit their credit limit. Another reason is it might simply be out of their hands.

The dealers DON'T control the distribution chain - it is generally out of their hands.

I am waiting for a black elegance ordered in February and due first or second week of April. Dealer still doesn't know exactly when but will about a week before I get it!

Seems to be a bit of a lottery. These boats bring in hundereds of cars at at time and looking at the port of Grimsby's website the compound is vast and full of all VAG cars. My first Octy took 3 weeks from landing to despatch and the second one (a few weeks ago was in Scotland within 5 days)

The dealer usually gets a fax to inform them that the car has "been consigned" which means someone has finally lashed it to a transporter and it should arrive probably the next day, depending on your location with regard to Grimsby.

Just exactly how well are cars treated on their jouneys from factory to dealer? I've often wondered!

I have stood several times on the deck of a ferry in Zeebrugge and watched them loading the vast car carriers with new Mercs and BMW's as well as Audi's etc. (Cannot remember seeing Skoda's) I suppose that these vehicles may have been destined for the States, and it looked like a great job,,, they certainy did not hang around cause time is money when these boats are tied up at the Quayside." Marine claims" are not uncommon as far as I have heard.

I've seen stats somewhere which suggest as many as 1 in 3 cars are damaged and repaired before they get their first owner

Personally I think thats a little high, but a lot are damaged thats for sure.

My brother bought a Focus RS when they had come out in 2002. The dealer gave us the runaround then started offering other cars, we refused and wanted the new one we bought. Anyway by pure chance a picture of a FRS had fallen off the transporter and landed on its roof:eek:, we later found out this was the very same car. Needless to say they go him another quick smart after he threated them with legal action:D.

The missus car has just turned up at the dealers (octy Vrs Tdi) 12 weeks to the day for the factory order , only problem is that I am going to be in Prague next week so I have to wait for ago. :(

This is where some dealers go wrong imho.

Whats wrong with a call - ever so sorry sir, your vehicle has been damaged in transit - borrow this courtesy car while we source you another one...

I wouldn't worry, the asylum seekers who are hiding in the boot will look after it during the journey.....;)

My car got damaged at the dealers. Once delivered I didnt accept it - repair was shocking! I still await my new one (vRS)

The dealers don't know if the car has been damaged between the factory and the import centre. I did witness a brand new Octavia getting unloaded from a transporter where the the top deck hadn't been raised high enough. That needed a new roof panel, refused delivery of it and got it sent back.

they come into one of two or three ports up north ellsmere was one i remember having mentioned to me.

The dealer can also track your cars progress on their system, all they need to do is enter the order number which was given to them when they place your order with the factory.

Also when the dealer gets your car they need to do pre delivery inspection and give it a quick clean to remove grime from your vehicle from its long journey over here and a quick clean inside.
