Anybody have a 70bhp Fabia 2?

Featured Replies

A friend of mine is looking at trading his 2003 MPI for one. Is the 2 level trim any good or is it similar to the 1?

Nate

Level 2 trim is fine. It has everything you need I reckon. Air con, trip computer, alloys etc. The engine is good as well - not all that economical yet - only done 2000 miles until now. Getting approx 41 mpg. It drives really well, is refined and has no rattles or squeeks (so far!). Also stereo/cd/aux set up is excellent.

Your friend might want to look at the Sport trim level too as IMO it's much nicer inside and out than the level 2 and doesn't cost much more.

How does the 1.2 do with the AC on?

In Colombia, there isn't the possibility of getting the Sport, VRs or diesel engines.

Yah, tell me about it. I would have bought a Fabia estate with the 1.9TDI instead of the 1.4 16v. My friend isn't into diesels though, fortunately.

Level 2 has most of the essentials. Level 3 has the nice (but not vital) bits added. Engine is fine as long as the car isn't loaded up and the hills aren't too steep. The combined mpg of 47-48 is maybe a bit optimistic in day to day driving. Don't really know about the aircon, haven't used it much in ours recently.

Best to get a test drive and see how it appeals from the drivers seat.

I agree... He is used to a MPI 1.4 8v. I think the htp has more power actually, so it should keep him happy.

It should be a nice upgrade at is a much more modern engine, slightly more powerful, more economical and it sounds great too.

Yes , the HTP in the new car has 2BHP (!) more than the MPi! Its a much more modern engine though , and was designed by Skoda. The MPi can trace its roots way back to the rear engined cars of the 60s. If I was getting a level 2 Fabia , I'd ask for the Maxidot option , it really livens up the dashboard , plus IIRC you don't get a temp gauge unless you order Maxidot??
