Oil temp gauge not working - any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi folks.

My oil temp gauge has stopped working. For a while it was intermittent but now has stopped entirely. I suspect something might have been working loose and has now lost contact, but that's just a hunch.

Does anyone know any things to check that I can do myself? Otherwise, the car is tip-top, running very well indeed. However, it's a niggle that that gauge isn't working...

Oil temp guage ??

Where are they ?

My vRS only has an engine/water temp guage.

Doh, you know what I mean. yeah, that's the bu66er. I'm forever getting the names of things wrong, especially when I post pre-coffee...

OK, the gauge that sits to the left of the caffeine level gauge ;-)

lol.

Right, quiet possibly just the Temp sender, or the thermostat, or as you say, a duff connection.

Either of the three is unlikely to be expensive.

Temp sensor is about £15

Thermostat £20ish (i think)
