Low Temp Warning Bleep stopped?

Featured Replies

I've seen loads of threads about people wanting to turn off the low temp warning bleep, however, mine appears to have stopped working by itself. Whilst the beep is annoying and usually, when it happens whilst driving along, makes me think something major has broke, it does serve a purpose.

Can this be disabled by pressing any of the buttons on the dash or has it thrown a wobbly or broke. Car is a 56 plate vRS and is under warranty (for another 2 years) but seems a bit trivial to take it into the stealers.

Ian

Take it to the dealers dude

and while your there if you havent allready get them to seal all your doors (say they leak even if they dont) pour some water on the bottom of the door cards even ;)

And get the revised EGR gasket fitted (say it stutters at 1800rpm)

Thats if you havent done the above.

And get them to fix the beeping too

JOB DONE :)

They are problems on almost every fabia, even if the leak is not apparent i guarantee one door at least will leak somewhere! and the stutter of the BLT engines is also customary throughout the range:thumbup:

So kill 2 or 3 birds with the same stone

I dont understand what the other magical problems you have posted have to do with his temperature bong

Why fix something that isnt broken???? surely this is just going to **** the guys dealer off and then when he does have a problem is going to get fobbed off!

Talk about random repsonse of the day

He said he didnt want to take it to the dealers for a silly thing like that so im saying he might as well fix all the problems at once

Would anyone else like to jump on the Briskoda self righteousness bandwagon? Will be departing in 5 mins

Take it in for problems that might not exist. Good one. Got any statistics for the percentage of Fabias with leaking doors? Or stuttering issues on BLT-engined cars? 'Customary' across the range is it? What range? That engine was only fitted to Euro4 compliant vRSes.

Oh and you mean self righteous, anyway.

I find you amusing.

Bringing the thread back on-topic, where are you located Ian? Perhaps a local member with VAG-COM diagnostics equipment could run a scan for you, see if any errors are thrown up.

Yeah like that will work (not). First part of diagnosis especially on a warranty claim is verify fault. Any water leak will be dried off and water tested to check where the water is coming in and 'if' you have a stutter it will be road tested first, if nothing else to check the problem is sorted after work is done.

Back on topic: does the temperature gauge still work and does your aircon work properly? If not, then the thermometer may well need replacing.

Also if you leave the display on temperature all the time, and switch the car on when its under 4'C the bleep won't go. Maybe its just been cold all the time :)

If not, and you're not happy with it take it to a dealer. Its what the warranty is for after all. However small the problem may seem to you

Oh and, my doors don't leak and the 'stutter' is certainly not a stutter

It shouldn't have got to the stage where it had to be moderated. Suggesting that someone in essence commit fraud with fantasy warranty claims is just plain stupid and could backfire, try that where I work and you will end up with an invoice to pay.

Oh dear what have I gone and done?

Whilst I don't post very often I frequent the forum every few days so see the issues that crop up regularly, hence I was able to challenge the dealer re the stutter fix when I was told 'they all do that sir'.

Hesitation fixed (ish) at 1st Service - much less noticeable

No damp patches on the carpet

Tim - you are probably right - it was on temp for a few days over the recent cold spell. I've changed it now so will see if it bleeps again if we get a frost again this year! Temp gauge still working and beep works if lights left on or indicator on when exit vehicle.

Cheers

Nothing at all wrong.

Good to hear your problems have been resolved

Mine is going to be checked this week at service - the gauge beeps every morning. Turn off and a restart sorts it out. The car is pointed downhill overnight and that might be part of the the problem. Happens at any ambient temp. Never did this for the first 2 yrs though. I read about this some time ago on the forum.

So , if its cold when you start it up , the temp and the * symbol flashes up on the dash , but without a beep , is this right? The only time you should hear the beep is if the temperature goes under 5 deg C whilst you are driving?? Mine never beeps when its cold in the morning , so I'm wondering if thats what its supposed to do?!
