It is the SKODA way!

Featured Replies

I can't give the full depressing details of trying to get an Octavia test drive out of Vindis Skoda Cambridge - the post's word-limited as I found out when I got halfway through! I did think of writing to Skoda's Marketing director but concluded it would be a waste to time.

For a 1/4 hr test drive I was subjected to a long questionnaire more appropriate to a free timeshare holiday. Lot of the details were unnecessary - they hold them already as I service my other car there. When I pointed this out, they said they had to complete them - part of the 'Vindis Skoda Sales Process'. It didn't include useful details like photocopying my licence, that had to be done afterwards, leaving me in the freezing cold in the car park. When I pointed out to the sales manager that I had just been able to walk in and test-drive my other car from there, he was affable but unapologetic - part of the 'Vindis Skoda Sales Process' mandated by Head Office. 'It enables us to decide what car would be best for you'. Patronising or what!

I'm reminded of the IKEA adverts - unfindeable stores, can't take shopping to your car, Hampton Court maze of store layout, unassembleable furniture 'Its the IKEA way!' My advice is to test-drive a nearly-new car from a private seller. He'll actally want you to buy his car!
