Meguiar's new dual action polisher?

Featured Replies

hello. so what are your thoughts about meguiar`s duel action polisher :D priced at 149.99. but i think they have really over priced their foam pads at 12.99 each  is it a good one?

what other options is there?

I got the latest catalogue and update from Megs this morning and they are pushing their new polisher.

It is a 220v dual action similar to the ones that can be imported from the U.S, but I'm guessing it has a U.K plug.

Has anyone used or know of someone who has used one?

The UDM is alittle steep for the amount of use I will get from it and this costs £150.

I've heard only good things about it. The pads do seem very expensive.

The unit itself also seems expensive since the G110 (US version 110V) sells at $149.

Guess thats the price we pay for living in rip off Britain

I've read alot about the G220 and heard nothing but good things about it over on DW

Ian:)

I've heard nothing but good reports on this on Detailing World.

It's the only real serious competition for the Porter Cable which has been the 'daddy' of car polishers for quite some time. Looks like Megs have spotted an opportunity to muscle in on PC's market :)

Postman Pat has bought one of these IIRC

Hopefully he will be along soon to tell more

With the pound/doller rate at the moment the Porter Cable is probably cheaper but then you won't need a transformer and easier to return if you have a problem.

Looks like a possible birthday present as my wife always complains when I just ask for cash. I need to see if any of the Megs stockists have it rather than paying delivery charges.

Here you go, in stock and free delivery!!

Yup, had chance to play with it in between the snow showers last week :) First impressions are that it is a very comfortable machine to operate, with considerably less vibration than a PC, and no convertor required 3 pin plug out of the box. Have noticed on DW that one or two units have started to malfunction with speed control issues and a high bush wear rate, hopefully this will just have been an issue with the very early machines no probs so far (touches wood :rofl:)

Having access to a Silverline rotary (the blue one) weight is important and this looks way lighter.

I have a Megs polishing and a finishing pad so would need to see how Igot on before trying different options.

I just need to convince my wife that it's really needed. She likes driving around in a clean shiney car but hates the time spent to acheive it.

All my results so far have been by hand so I can add that the new machine would mean less time outside all weekend.

I'm watching, don't go and step out of line eh 'George'! ;)

Edit: Duplicate topics running so threads merged.

I currently have a UDM and have bought a couple of these back from the US now while visiting my parents.......love the machine and the results it gives me but I have been tempted to buy a G220 recently as it is always nice to have two machines to work on a car.........

I find that the vibration on the UDM is quite high when up on setting's 5-6 but you do get used to it.........

Well tried my G220 the other week. Great bit of kit. Much better than using your hand.
