Key won't operate central locking

Featured Replies

Drove home last night after unlocking the car as normal, got home and the key wouldn't lock the car.

Got the spare key and that was the same, drove away from the house in case something was interfering with the signal and after a few attempts with both keys the spare started to work. Our VW passat also on the drive has no issues with the remote locking so obviously no interference.

I checked the batteries in both (OK), the fuses (OK) and then looked in the handbook which said the key might be out of synchronisation. I followed the steps several times but could not get the key to work.

Any ideas?

TIA

Bump - no one had this before?

my remotes no longer work and apparently it can be down to the central conveinience unit getting wet in the drivers door, or could be the pipe for your rear washer has popped off in your boot.

i havnt fixed mine yet (waiting till summer) but it could be an expensive fix if i need to replace the Unit in the door.

Does the radio turn off when you take the key out?

Yes radio turns off and I have one key working, just that one has stopped working.

Battery etc is all OK.

Sounds like a dodgy remote control to me.
