I would say Angel could tweak it for you, I had mine done by Angel about 2 weeks ago and it is fantastic!! I previously had a Celtic map on my furby but I found this to have far too much shunt low down which created clutch slip and it also stopped revving around 3800rpm, whereas the Angel remap comes in more progressively and revs through to approx 4600 which I find better and easier on the clutch, I have also noticed considerably less smoke since!

Obviously this is just my thought on the subject and how my furby has responded to the remap, other people might disagree.

Ok cheers, that sounds ideal.

The generic angel map is a good safe one anyway, should be spot on fella

Just wondering how quick the car will be as compared to standard after the remap, also has pd160 intake and green filter, will i be impressed??

Yes!!

Have you experienced the difference between a Saxo VTR and VTS. Pretty crap car's but a good example.

Standard its just quicker than a VTR

After a Remap its just quicker than a VTS which is a massive increase

If you dont know these two cars it equates to about 1.5/2 secs to 60mph - although this isnt a diesels strong point, it will be amazing mid to top end

Yes i have driven the vtr and vts, fair bit of difference between the two when you open them up, im not after 0-60 though just after a bit more midrange really.

Thats the difference then, pretty big difference ;)

When mapped there rapid wee bug#ers

had mine done by angel and its a huge difference from standard but dont rev fro at the bottom of the rev range wait till around 2000-2500 then boot it

LOL impressed is not the word mate, you say a lot of words before "....me" for some reason ;) and for a very long time.

I had mine mapped by angel 2 weeks ago. You will be impressed. 3rd gear is awesome!! 1st and 2nd suffer some serious traction issues though!!!!!

let me know how it goes and which map you get as there is one close to me in cardiff

how much do they charge?

I had mine done for 285 in cardiff. Email angel themselves and you will get a quote for 285 instead of 300 which longlife in cardiff wanted to charge. It makes one hell of a difference!!!

I spoke to angel themselves and they quoted £300

Will have a word when they turn up in the morning deffo :)

What a difference, the pull now 2nd, 3rd, 4th is unbelievable, best £300 ive ever spent.

Chucking out a bit of smoke now though :drivesaf:

So they are a generic map then? As in "one map fits all"?

Or do they give you a few to choose from?

I may be wrong but didn't some members on here have turbo issues after a remap by said company?

Nigel at Angel said they have developed the map with the clutch slip problem in mind and its quite progressive at the 1500-2000rpm after that things turn mental right round to 4500.

Generic or not, its quite superb imo, far better than the Superchips map that i had on the octy

Think any remap is gonna put a bit more strain on the turbo, when the turbo is designed for a 130bhp engine.

Better save up for a clutch now though me thinks

Standard Turbo goes on the standard cars anyhow, the KKK ones are especially plop!

Dont think you can really compare a petrol and diesel map on different cars.

I found the Superchips to be a nice conservative map ;)

Then your clutch went?

TBH I'm quite happy with my Dragon Box at the minute its given a good power increase for £150, doesnt affect my fuel economy much at all, and I'm happy its not doing the engine much damage as my EGR valve is completely free of cruddy build up.

Only downside is its not pushing as much power as a remap, and all the power comes between 2000 and 3800 rpm and you can feel a judder when it kicks in.

Thinking a remap may be smoother and better for the car...

Dont jump to conclusions!!

I HAVE a star Map, My friend on the otherhand has a Superchips remap :thumbup:

No problems with my Angel map which i had about 6000 miles ago.

No problems at all with the clutch and the amount of pull between 2500 and 4250rpm puts a smile on my face every day. Unless cruising, this is the rev range where you should be driving. Boot it below 2k and eventually your engine will eat your clutch for breakfast and puke it straight back up afterwards.

I had the fiat mapped by angel at 4,000 miles..... now 38,000 miles, and no issues....

but then I have a garrett turbo, and the fiat doesn't have clutch/flywheel issues :D

they had serveral maps for my engine... one that gave 190 bhp! but they said that would eat my clutch... so I'm happy with a 'conservative' power improvment + reliability

Does anyone know of a link to a video clip of a mapped VRS vs non mapped VRS or PD tdi 130 comparisons

I would like a remap would like to see in a clear comparison real terms the performance difference

Matt

bit off topic but whats the next thing to do after getting a remap done?
