HELP!!!! MFD Problems

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently bought an Skoda MFD sat nav unit from ebay. It came from Lithuania.

I have had a few problems, the first being a broken gps socket which I have had fixed now (Still trying to claim money back for the repair).

So I go plug the unit into my car and it turns on fine, the radio works ok.

I can't test the cd player as i have yet to fit the changer.

The seller sent Major Roads of Western Europe 2003, this cd works and the navi comes on, unfortunately the cd doesn't cover the uk! It can't find my location as a result.

So I bought Blaupunkt dx UK & Ireland 2007/08. I inserted the cd which it read and then said navigation loading. Then it says cd incompatible! But the case for the disc says its compatible with my unit.

HELP!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really do hate to state the obvious mate - but:

ebay + lithuania = trouble.

get an atlas or use multimap before you set off, and learn the geography of the country's road network, but then I am an old bast**d................. and do things the hard way.

Did the disk you bought come from eBay? CDR's can be unreliable if not copied correctly.

I know what you are saying about ebay and lithuania but people have used this combo before with no major problems.

Using a sat nav is much easier, it saves all the route planning before hand!

Plus later on in the year it will be used more frequently for travelling abroad.

yeah i know but like i said, old git syndrome, old dog and new tricks - but i can find most towns in the uk in no time at all and I'm only 42.

Sorry for being unhelpful and sarcastic!

The atlas was only Β£3.99 and came from Aldi!! (yes it was the upmarket one!)

Hope you get some more helpful replies!

Anyone know where old people can buy 'abroad' atlasses? Am thinking of visiting Coventry.

:-)

Is the CD you bought a genuine one?

There are issues with copied cd's

If you are sure it is 100% genuine - There is a thread here about people being sold moody ones on eBay - then I can't really help any more other than to say try another.

DX is the right disk for your unit.

Have you tried a Music CD in the head unit?

There isn't any need to post the same question twice - I will merge the threads.

Well it looks the same as all the ones being sold on the internet.

The seller has sold 100s of them with 100% feedback.

I might send it back and get another disc.

It just seems strange that the copied cdr that came with it works amd the genuine copy doesn't.

Would you say it was the disc as a opposed to a broken sat nav unit?

Thanks for help.

It doesn't play music cds as its just an mfd.

Thats why I have bought a cd changer.

I think the MFD does play music. The requirement for a changer is to be able to listen to CD's whilst navigating.

Ok. I will give that a try tonight to see if a cd works.

Thanks for merging the threads. I was just trying to get as much info last night while I was trying to sort it out. Hence posting it in 2 places.

Tried playing a cd and different genuine navigation disc in the unit and it says cd incompatible?

But the copied navigation disc that came with it works!

Any ideas?

My dad has asked a friend to have a look at it when he gets a minute. Just a bit ****ed off as at the moment i have an expensive radio!

Thanks.
