Octy vRS Hatch - Rear Stiffener thingies

Featured Replies

Guys,

A couple of favours to ask regarding the stiffeners in the boot if I may:

1) Anyone got a close-up photo of one of them?

2) Could someone with Etka - Denis maybe :) let me know the part numbers incl fixings.

3) Anyone have an idea on price for a pair.

Ta muchly...

Can do pics tomorrow if i remember :)

Does the estate have the fixing points then ?

Dunno about fixing points Geoff. Prolly have to drill a couple of big MoFo holes in the floorpan....... will try and get a closer look tomorrow.

Umm..

Wouldn't the fuel tank be in that sort of area?

The reinforcing struts go by the name of backrest, complete - left and right and need 2 reinforcement plates fitted as well. I doubt very much that they would fit in the Estate and, if they did, they would compromise the loading area significantly. Jimmy, I suggest that you have a look in the boot of an RS to see what they look like and it should then be clear whether or not they can be fitted. And are you considering fitting them because of the 16" wheel size limit on the Estate?

Denis, I agree I could do with checking the arrangement in the hatch to see whether they are a universal fit so to speak. Re: restrictions on load area it's not too much of a problem for me, certainly nothing I could live without.

What 16" size limit on the estate? I want to fit them in a relatively inexpensive attempt to improve bodyshell rigidity at the rear of the car.
