Well I trade the Fabia in tomorrow morning after not even 12 months of having it.

It is a shame as some aspects of the car I really like it is very smooth to drive and has a nice big feel to it and when going a constant speed on a main Rd or Mway it is a joy to drive. Unfortunatley all my driving is round town which it doesn't seem to like as it seems sluggish and the mpg is shocking.

It is just a shame about all the other problems that seem to constantly crop up leaking doors, creaky suspension, dodgy steering, juddering in 2nd gear, rad fan switch leaks etc

So it is off to world of Vauxhall to give them a try although with my luck no doubt there will be many problems ahead but with a 1litre engine which seems nippier round town than the Fabia at least I should get 40mpg and a car more suited to the town.

I can't help feel let down however by bad manufacturing on Skoda's behalf. I know all car makes have their faults but the number of parts which seem to have known faults on Skoda is like a A-Z.

However I must say some of the parts exhaust, clutch etc seem spot on I wear exhausts and clutches out for fun with all the town driving I do but I have had no problems with this car.

Just watch the exhaust fall off on my new car :rofl:

Enjoy the new car. My '96 Corsa was pretty much indestructible so hopefully the new ones are as good :thumbup:

Im with you on the niggly problems

I had a French car and im sorry to say it was older and had many more miles than the Fabia but build quality was a million times better

I bought the Skoda thinking hmm (VAG) should be bulletproof and problem free.... How wrong was i, most annoying car ive owned

I had a french car before the Fabia and that was in the garage a lot but mainly because the French are rubbish at building exhausts.

Looking back now although I had my problems with it I didn't have half the niggly problems I have now.

Can't say I have any niggly problems with my Fabia (yet, it seems), didn't know there was such an issue about it.

My old car (an 03 clio) had far more niggly problems, mainly electrical.

Everyone here was saying how great Fabias were until I bought one.

They do seem to have more than their fair share of problems.

I echo all the above statements.

VAG build quality memo never reached Skoda me thinks.

Base on what I read these days, I am not sure that memo got past the secretary's desk at vag.

Day one of the new car and problems have already arrisen!!

The new car had a MOT & service when I bought it just checked the MOT notes and there is a small gass leak from the exhaust and the CV boot has a crack in it.

I need to check and see if they sorted them or not but I doubt it if the things were only small.

What car/model/pics did you get in the end?

Corsa 1litre 12v, 51 Reg, 46,000 miles.

Regarding the exhaust hopefully I can get it changed on warranty but if not I am seriously considering a stainless steel one anyway as you get the lifetime guarantee and I will need to keep this car for a few years. A place near me does them and they cost virtualy the same as a normal exhaust.

That's a no brainer then. Get the stainless one.

Me to but with my luck probably not.

Blimey the engine isn't half noisey compared to that of the Fabia and it isn't half as smooth but a lot nippier.

I am strating to wonder if the timing chain needs looking at when stationary it fair old rattles away.

The only problem with my fabia was the blown turbo a few weeks back, leaky doors etc, but appart from that, nothing.

I thought that a cracked CV boot was an MOT failure, or is it only when its completely broken?

Could you have bought a Diesel? that would be miles better round town than petrol. My fabia vRS will get min of 40mpg round town so a smaller Diesel would be even better?

Unless you don't like Diesel of course.
