Back again with another problem -

Short story : which front shocks from which Skoda (Felicia / Favorit / VW Caddy etc) will fit my '97 Felly Diesel ??

Longggg Story :

was cheerfully putting on a new balljoint on the lower suspension arm* in preparation for the ITV (Spanish MOT) , when I got a bit curious round the corroded looking strut with a screwdriver - it crumbled like an Oxo cube....

and now sports a hole even El Myopico the MOT tester couldnt miss... (plus suspension collapse doesnt sound too funny at my usual 80mph commute).

I took a quick trip to the local breakers - no-one has a felicia diesel -

So at last to the point - I found these :

Juego de 2 amortiguadores delanteros 16296 para

Which looks to be a set of monroe shocks , but checking a few of the part numbers , they are the same as petrol and diesel struts (which is a seperate part?) in the Butts catalogue , and my head is too done in from the translating to work it out, and the Mrs is hassling me to stop obsessing....

I would prefer to sling on a set of secondhand shocks as cash is tight, and assume the spanish ones wont be as rusty!! Which ones will fit ????

* (original SKODA PART - the rubber failed after only 1 year!!! Couldnt get just the rubber boot from my local dealer... cheapo pattern part on the other side is still fine! Can only think I nicked it during fitting causing early failure??? )

Genuine Skoda part numbers specifically for 1.9d 11.95 onwards

6U0 413 031 J or 6U0 413 031 L for cars with ABS.

If you search you should be able to find pattern parts I imagine.

Pardon my french, but will these ******* bargains be a good bet - all the part numbers quoted, so looks like I can used any strut of any non-abs felicia / VW caddy - or am I way off the mark?
