Newbie on the hunt for a fabia vrs :)

Featured Replies

Hello,

well im currently the owner of a cliosport 182 but really need something more efficent for motorway driving so looking at maybe a fabia vrs :)

they look pretty decent i think, just wanted know abit more about performance, motorway driving, handling before i set my sights on one.

I know its a completely different car from the clio but what can i expect from a vrs?

hope everyone is well!

Welcome to the forum

I'm a Octavia driver, but loads of Fabia vRS drivers will be along shortly.

Hi there Sam,

Welcome to Briskoda from an ex-Clio owner. :)

Mine was a 1.2 8v so I can't really comment on differences in performance (mine was 60bhp), but in terms of motorway/long distance driving I find the vRS a much more comfortable drive (I drove 385 miles the other week with no problems), great for overtaking , way more economical (almost 60mpg compared to around 40) and good & spacious too. A bit more fiddly to keep clean but I can forgive it.

Have a look around the forum - there's loads of useful information on here :) but personally I think it'd be a good choice!

Kay.

Hello & welcome, I have a Fabia vRS....

I run a standard output one and it's good for 140bhp (more than what Skoda say), Straight line performance is excellent for me.

Rag it and the worst I get is 40 mpg, take it easy and you can get anywhere in the 50mpg range, (mine will easily get 50mpg on the motorway), some even get 60mpg.

The engine form the Volkswagon engine in this car is bulletproof.

The handling, even I will admit is ok, won't set the world on fire, probably not as good as the Clio in the corners but that doesn't really bother me.

Road tax is £120 for the year, and as it's a Diesel, the insurance is good, (mine is £400 fully comp & protected and that's living in kent with 6 years NCD).

Hope this has helped you, but go and test drive one, I was a bit wary before but when I got back, I bought it!!

Any more questions, just ask.

Ben

thanks for the input Kay and Ben :)

sounds exactly what i need really.. something with a bit of grunt but saves me a few pennys down the petrol station every week!

how much would a remap generally cost? does it make quiet a difference to the performance?

Hi,

Mine is a standard car but a remap is probably in the 400 - 500 range???

I understand that the difference is quite good over the standard car altough you will probably loose some mpg.
