Having test driven the Roomster 1.9tdi, I’m very impressed with it’s space, handling & driveability. My next job is to convince my other half…

My questions are;

- A Roomster 3 1.9TDI is £13,210 rrp (with Skoda’s current £1000 “discount” from list). What should I really be paying nowadays?

- Glancing at the For Sale section on here and Autotrader.co.uk, I didn’t see many private second hand Roomsters for sale. Where else should I be looking? What sort of price might a recent low mileage one be?

- Which dealers in East Anglia would you suggest talking to?

Tbh you won't get it much cheaper unless you can find a dealer who is chasing their resgisration bonus. Most dealers I have spoken to will knock about £500 but few of them will haggle. It's also one car that makes sense to buy new with ex demo's going for not a huge amount cheaper. Have a look on the skoda website at their used car section and see whats about. There is also a dealer section on here you might want to look at if your after feedback

I bought an ex demo 10 month old Roomster 2 1.9TDI in February with 4000 miles on the clock in Gloucester for £8995. Fitted chip within a couple of weeks though well pleased with standard performance. Beats Picasso 90 BHP by a big margin. Versatilty, driveability, economy - and even Jeremy Clarkson likes it! (I think that's good.....?)

Looks like you got a real good deal there. Hope you don't mind me asking but how did you manage to track yours down? Thanks. I'm keeping an eye on Autotrader but there doesn't seem much out there at present. (which is great for residuals).

The dealer I had an original quote from said he would take that off the OTR price.

I am on my fourth PD and to be honest as long as there is service history they will be fine. Infact there have been a few threads on here about the running in and the conclusion was the PD's that had been given a bit of stick from the start performed better and drank less oil. Not saying this is gospel but something to consider.

Cactus, when I took my Fabia in for a service the salesman was quite keen to offer me an ex demo Roomster - so it may be worth you just ringing round all the dealers in the area and asking what they have on offer.

second hand ones seem a bit few and far between. weve got a demo but its a 1.4tdi level 2 here for sale.

i drove a 1.9tdi scout for 6500 miles and i loved it! even now with the fab estate i still miss that little extra versitility the scout had.

We've got a level2 1.4TDi ex-demo aswell, I reckon every dealer in the country must have an exdemo level2 Joey.

this one got into the showroom and we got so used to seeing it here we all forgot how old it was getting

Auto Express magazine has an 'aim to pay' price of £11879 for a new Roomster 3 1.9TDi.If you cant get your dealer to match that price then get in touch with drivethedeal.com and they will find you a dealer who will.It states in the mag to use the price as a bargaining tool as it represents the lowest price that model is available for in the UK.

Dealerwise, Wings of Peterborough are a good place, family owned etc and currently have an ex-demo 1.9 TDi 3 - its a bit pricey but speak to Justin Wing, I'm sure he'll come up with a much better price.

ALS Autos at Ely are pretty good too.

Answer to your question re finding the car was I happened to be passing Robert Bamfords in Gloucester and saw about 6 ex demos lined up all at same price. Had read good reports about them but not seen one in the flesh before. I had a 10 minute test drive and decided to but it there and then. Probably worth giving them a ring - should at least be able to advise - I found them very helpful

It is a tad unrealistic isn't it...

You do realise that any customer that wants to pay the whatcar target price will also expect you to pay the parkers guide price.... If parkers was so accurate wouldn't we use it as a guide?
