Firefox speed

Featured Replies

I've just downloaded and started using Firefox but I've noticed pages are loading a lot slower than compared to when I was using IE. Is this normal?

Don't think I'll be going back to IE though.

Cheers,

Matt

Not that i have noticed, it may be because the pages you are loading are not already in the browsers cache..

you can try this How To Speed Up Firefox (Helpful Vanity)

but i dont know if it applies to more up to date versions.

I generally find pages load faster in FF than in IE, although though FF can have some rendering issues.

Give the new FF 3 beta a go having read loads of hype about it (already a FF user anyway) its sweet so think ill stick with it for now

Cheers for the replies guys, the pages seem to be loading faster this morning, maybe it was just down to an unusually high amount of activity last night

I'll give that link a go later though thanks Alex.

Ben

Your right, i just did it and my god its much quicker!

I had not done it since the early FF versions i had no idea it still worked :D

Ie tab extension is great for asp pages (like windows update).

Download manager tweak is also a must.

If your using FF2, Fasterfox is a good extension to tweak things for you.

Other "must have" extensions i have are:

Adblock plus

Download Statusbar

Download helper (for ripping vids from Youtube etc)

DownThemAll (download manager)

Fasterfox

Fission (moves the progress bar to the address bar)

NoScript

Save Image in folder (if you like to save pics like me)

You could try opera it's supposed to be the fastest.
