First 1000 miles in the VRS TDi

Featured Replies

I have had the car for 12 days and just turned over a 1000 miles.

So now it is fully run in and hopefully should start to loosen up a bit over the next few weeks.

Average MPG over the first 1000 according to the on board computer is 42.2. Not bad and hopefully this should improve a smidge as well.

Overall well pleased with the car :)

Glad you are enjoying the car. Common thoughts on here are that you need to have at least 10,000miles on the clock before it really starts to loosen up. Done 12,000 in mine so far and still lots of fun.

Hi,

I got mine (company car) three weeks ago, and with 5000 miles on the clock the engine is a lot more quiet and economy getting a little bit better.

But as mentioned, after the 10-15k mark, the engine will really be loosened up.

Don't forget to 'give it some beans' for the DPF to clear itself out (with a nicely warmed up engine only though!)

I am very pleased with mine so far :D!

What mpg are you getting?

Getting between a good 45mpg on m/ways (steady run at 80mph - I live in Belgium), and 40mpg for shorter drives.

I do accelarate using the torque (in the right gear and so on...), so could get better if I watched that a little.

I can only dream of 42mpg :( Ive had the car 4 weeks and done 1300 miles, im driving as carefully as possible and i cant get it above 38mpg. Driving likei am in my old Fabia vRS id have been getting over 50mpg.

Give it time you impatient bunch you... ;)

Mine really started to improve after about 13k - i wasn't seeing much better than 38-43mpg until around 3-4k, then it improved weekly until around 13k where it settled out, and is a lot more predictable - i generally see a tank lasting 500-550 miles, and averaging between 41-47mpg on each tank - sometime worse, sometime less... Depending on how i feel like driving it

Its nearly at 22500 now, and is still improving, well, in the way of better performance... :D :D

mines about 16k and loosening up nicely.

I had a Passat 130TDi and managed to put 43k on it in 12mths and that had really loosened up when I gave it back
