Columbus Sat Nav Audio Woes

Featured Replies

Hi, Just when my new Octy 2.0 Tdi L&K and I are just settling into each other my Columbus unit has decided to give cause for concern. My previous Octy Elegance was ordered with the optional Audience with 12 speaker set up which proved to be quite good, so I was a bit apprehesive when I found out that the new set up (with both the Audience and Columbus) were with an 8 speaker set up. On delivery I was surprised that the frequency response was very good with the new set up. I enjoy my music in my cars and I would put it as one as my priorities in a car.

A couple of days ago as I was changing files on the Hard drive the unit gave a loud pop and switched itself off and automatically restarted itself again. Since this happened the sound from the speakers lacks quality and has poor bass resonse. The treble is now much more harsh. Has anyone experienced this ?and, if so, would the problem lie in the speakers or the head unit?

Please help.

Not something I have heard of.

I'd get it back to the dealers mate - popping noise sounds terminal tbh :(

Aye,

Back to pester them tomorrow (again) . Also I forgot to mention that the MW radio did not work on delivery, they seemed to get It working (badly).

The instruction book suggested that if there is a problem with one of their units then they replace it with a reconditioned unit. Is this still the case with the car only 2.5 weeks old I wonder?

My Stream popped a week or so ago but always sounds harsh:D

I was over the moon with the sound quality till it "popped". I read about the Stream "popping".

my problem is whether or not the speakers may need replacing.

The chances of the speakers being affected are less than something that has gone wrong in the pre amp/amp stages in the head unit by the sound of your description.

Speakers tend to just work or break!:)

That would be great since new car is amazingly rattle and squeak free and not having to remove the door cards would be fine,
