And there's a rumble from the o/s front wheel - are the d/shafts a problem (120k). Oh and the radio code is lost - I hear it takes two hours at the dealers to sort. Ah well, I've always wanted one.

At the risk of being forever shunned by Awesome, but in the interests of impartiality, my wife's car's been to Lisburne Garage in Offerton a couple of times and they've been very good as well as cheap. The garage also runs a number of Octies and Superbs as minicabs, so I reckon they know what they're doing with Skodas! They probably don't have the performance 'pedigree' of Awesome, but they ought to be able to sort your probs out...

As for the radio, 2 hours at a stealers could set you back over £100. As the stereo in the Octy's a standard DIN fitting I think, you might just want to replace it...? Plenty of info on here how to do that sort of thing!

The radio should code itself in automatically. If it hasn't, the next step is to get a dealer to supply the manual entry code.

The door's a one-off problem on us too I think.

Several things the rumble might be; post more details in the Octavia 1 forum. But ask about the door there too.

There's a fair few of us would happily recommend Awesome, not least for craft skills, welcome, and knowing the cars properly enough to not just fit standard VAG parts. Search for "plastic impellor water pump" to find out why. Don't worry too much though; that seems to be more of an issue with the hotter running petrol engines.
