Throttle Body - to clean or not to clean?

Featured Replies

Inspired by all the TB threads on here I had a look at at TB on the missus 2001 1.4 Fabia MPI - 66,000 miles - last night. Without removing it, the air filter side was incredibly clean. However, it was impossible to see behind the butterfly valve which didn't open much even revving the engine. Now, the engine side could be filthy for all I know & accounting for uneven RPM at idle (but not too bad). Based on this, anyone who has done this reckong it is worth removing the unit for cleaning (as I will have to commit to new gasket/VAG COM to reset) etc?
