Should my 1999 LXi have rear speakers?

Featured Replies

As the title asks really?

Looking at the options codes on my sticker in the boot, it comes up with one that apparently means 4 speaker audio.

Although my LXi only has 2 front speakers.

Should it have them? And have they been removed for some reason, or do LXi's just have space for rear ones?

TIA,

Craig

I definitely remember reading that certain models didn't have rear speakers fitted.

I thought that too. But having the option code on the sticker seems weird.

8RE = 4 speakers (passive)

it might be a little late to complain to the suppling dealer.....

LOL, just a little late.

I've only just spotted the option codes yesterday though, would seem very weird if someones removed them though wouldn't it?

I've had a look and there don't seem to be any rogue wires about in the boot, so maybe it never had any? Maybe the run out the day my car was built in Mlada Boleslav? lol

Anyone have any ideas what speakers will fit in the gaps?

The 4 speaker audio will be just the fronts, which comprises a woofer and a tweeter in each door.

It's a cheeky way of counting speakers, but technically correct.

No it didn't. My 99 MY GLXi didn't have rear speakers either, I got the dealer to put them in.

yep same here my dads glxi didnt so the lxi almost certainly didnt have them, was a 98 model and had dealer fit some, 4 speaker means tweeters too so it technically has got 4 speakers two front tweeters and two woofers
