Removing Stubborn Sticker

Featured Replies

Ahem, cellulose thinners, ahem.

Eddy, try lifting one edge of the sticker even a few mm and spraying the label remover at/under that lifted edge.

It digests the glue so you should be able to spray and lift and repeat a few times. Failing that you could try some cutting compound on the sticker surface itself to try and wear away the plastic, but obviously you're getting into abrasives then.

Cellulose thinners could be ok, but you have to be careful on the paint as if the paint is acrylic based it will react badly and there are the obvious risks with cellulose based paints too.

The sticker can't be peeled up at all, it just comes off in tiny pieces when I try. I think a heat gun might do it but I don't have one and don't trust myself to use one.

Eddy, when you finally succeed perhaps you could publish a summary of what you tried and hasn't worked. I confess to losing touch at the sheer number...

Already tried a hairdryer (it's the first thing I tried) but I don't think it gets it hot enough.

I think I may well have to get a bodyshop to remove it.

Ah well. :(

It may end up costing you a tenner or something, but it saves you buying endless products to get it off.

I'd just pop into a decent local one, they'll more than likely do it there and then, or if you're lucky, not even bother charging you.
