IPOD connection

Featured Replies

Hello

I have just purchased a Superb 55 plate 1.9TDi Classic 100ps.

I am very happy with it so far.

I want to be able to connect my IPOD through my radio is there any connection at the back of the stereo??

Cheers Sterlos

You can use an OEM device which is a Denison Icelink.

It will reside in the socket that would normally be occupied by a CD changer if fitted.

Dension Icelinks are available from the dealers, but all Halfords stores can order the parts.

There's also a Connects2 part which does the same job (I think at a lower cost) but I've not got a part number or catalogue for that.

I have an XCarLink device in my Superb - not the iPod version, but the USB one.

It works very well and allows me to toggle between the CD Multichanger, USB MP3 player and the radio using the CD button on my Symphony radio. I would expect the iPod version to be just as good.

iPod CD changer adapter, VW iPod, Music Link, xCarLink

could you give me some details on your usb interface please surrey white?

whats the price? do you have to put the files in special folders or can you whack any old usb device and it will hunt the files down?

cheers

The USB XCarLink takes a USB stick. I put 6 folders named CD1 - CD6 (The Symphony head will only recognise 6 CDs) on each USB stick, one for each CD.

I find that at maximum bit rate I easily get 6 CDs on a 1Gb USB drive. I keep getting given 1Gb sticks given to me at trade shows so I have several in the car

My XCarLink was about £80.

I chose it so I could keep the CD Multichanger.

The only problem is remembering whats on each USB drive.....

The link above to their web site explains quite a bit and has photos.

How do I know witch connector to choose? There's two options 2x6 and 8 pin ISO. I have factory stereo "Škoda Symphony MP3" with steering wheel control and no CD Changer.

I'm going to guess at 8 pin ISO for your stereo - I had the standard Symphony without the steering wheel controls or CD changer, and that's pure ISO.

I think the 2x6 might be a quadlock connector?

Don't quote me on that though

I didn't know what I wanted either, so I just pulled the head unit out and compared the plugs to the photos on the web site.
