welded wheels?

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this is common practice, it just seems a bit weird to me:O. I've Been looking at alloys on ebay and came across this auction.

I'm not interested in the wheels, but the fact that he says one has been welded as it split. Can you really weld alloys?? I would've thought a split was reason enough to replace

Despite Conshine's link, my response is still:

Don't get me wrong, pressed steelies are welded AFAIK, but cracked, welded cast alloy? No thanks!

:iagree:, and doubly so for forged alloys! At minimum, I'd want to see crack test results for all 4 rims with that description!

glad its not just me. I don't think I'd feel safe driving on an alloy that had been welded

But that's not a picture of a 40ft Pole - it looks more like an Aussie lost up 5h1t creek.

If he could do grammer and stuff like i recon he could have got another £30 at least :p

I'd not be happy on a welded alloy, especially not a split. I've seen minor chunks knocked out built back up with weld, but I'd still have doubts.
