Hi all

I'm Jimmy, living down in Dorset on the south coast and just joined this forum to learn a bit more about our family motor. It's a 2001 Y plate 1.6 Octavia Ambiente estate which we have owned for about two months now. Its a lovely car with loads of space and good economy etc.

I know that a 1.6 litre Octavia is never going to be a performance car (I couldn't persuade the wife to get a vRS estate) but is there anything I can do to the engine to give it a little bit more performance? I have thought about remapping the ECU, fitting an induction kit and maybe even fitting a better exhaust (only when the current one goes though - I do not want to buy a new one for the sake of it) but I have no experience of VAG engines and how they respond to such mods. Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers

James

Welcome to Briskoda! :)

I'm sure someone with a bit more experience of the 1.6 will be able to help you!

Hiya.

I'm afraid you're never going to see "big" gains from chip and zorst style mods to a non-turbo engine. A good guess would be about 15% from both, and that's just about enough to keep up with a TDi90 in real road driving.
