Windescreen washers

Featured Replies

A different "performance enhancing" question for the community to ponder:

has anyone uprated their windscreen washers?

I don't believe you can redirect the "jets"; I just get a fine mist on the drivers side and a great spray at the bottom of the passenger side. May be it's been designed to do that but I find it cr*p ( ) especially now that the weather is wet and the roads dirty.

It's the one thing that, IMHO, could be improved upon.

Does anyone know of any after market heated washer kits?

Cheers.

Adrian.

I thought about this also, but then after a decent run open the bonnet and feel the water tank - it's plenty warm!

Could do with uprating the motor though, but I would guess it's a VAG specific pump.... Hmmmm.......

have you tried a KARCHER straped under the bonnet...............i know what your thinking and there`s no need to thank me

always happy to be of help

The jets CAN be adjusted.

How do I know?

Because I had mine done the other week. My driver side jet has, since delivery, been hitting the underside edge of the bonnet and then spraying onto my side of the window as a fine mist. The passenegr side gets a big wodge of soapy windscreen love juice.

While my car was in getting the rattle sorted out my dealer asked me if I had any other problems with it. I told them about it and they adjusted it out.

Apparently (my dealer wasn't massively clear on this) they have to be adjusted from underneath, with some shim or something (Please note: I may have just dreamt that bit. The line between reality and fantasy is a hazy one in my world).

So it can be done.

And how cool is it that Skoda get around the freezing water jet thing by mounting them Under The Bonnet in a warm airflow area. No expensive electrically heated jets to go on the blink. Just good old Skoda common sense...:youreallyneeda'thumbup'icon:
