Does the 2.0 TDi potentially have the VW fuel pump problem?

Featured Replies

Hi. Can you guys advise me?

Does the 2.0 TDi potentially have the same fuel pump issue that is dogging some of the 2004 VW Passat diesels? I have mentioned before I have a fuel leak from around the pump that has trashed the alternator belt. I took it to the dealer today who had never heard of any issue with the VW fuel pump, the only bloke on the planet that wasn’t aware.

Are you referring to the recall for faulty pump cover bolts? if so then it doesn't appear to cover the Octavia TDI.

It's not a common issue here either, I trawled the search facility and there isn't much on leaking fuel pumps.

What's happening with your fuel pump? it might just be a leaking seal or similar.

Im not understanding how the fuel pump on the back of the engine can trash an alternator belt on the front.

Fabia, Octavia 2 and Superb were subject to the PD tandem pump recall. However I only saw one Superb with the LUK pump, all Bosch pumps were OK.

However there is a new ssue with oil/fuel contaimination that VW have a TSB out at the moment but that seems to be limited to the 3C Passat (transverse engine).
