Hi guys i have owned a 54 plate Vrs Octavia for the last 18 months and everythings been fairly sweet . In the past the rear windows have worked off of the front drivers switches or the rear door mounted switches but since its recent service neither of the rear switches will operate the windows but the drivers switches still do ????? seeing as both rear switches dont work im guessing that its not a failure of any kind and that whilst being serviced somehow the rear switches have been disabled ????? is this possible ???? and if so how do i turn them back on ? any ideas folks ? all help or ideas appreciated

Check to see if you have depressed the rear window lock button in between the front and rear switches .....might be the obvious but might not:thumbup:

My first thought too. Matches all the symptoms, particularly since a strange driver's been in the car.

Be fair; I mean, if a mechanic's hit a button you didn't even know about, and not realised...

My window kiddie lock button doesn't even work and never has since I've owned the car :-(

Ok Ok im a numpty but i have never used the lock button or even noticed it was there ---but why would the mechanic on a service use the button ?????? ha ha we live and learn and next time i will take a lot longer looking before i post to avoid the ridicule!!!!!!!!!

i realised id left the heated mirrors on for 6 months the other day! assumed the centre setting meant off, not heat! woops! suppose it cooked all the spiders living behind the mirror well though!

Now theres something I didn't realise. I knew the mirrors were heated, but confused as to why they only worked 50% of the time.

Ha Ha i thought the middle position was off aswell and as for only working with the heated rear screen ----well thats on since the service too --it seems that the mechanic has hit every button he could lay his hands on lol:rofl:

With any luck that means that "he" was testing all the electrics for you.

hehe the window lock confused me as to what it done for a while too.

Theres always something i dont know that someone else will ... no matter how trivial or funny better to ask than just not know i say , Also i bet anybody that usually ridicules over a question like that has more than likely suffered the same fate at some point so are slightly hipocritical

I'll concede to thinking the centre position on the mirror adjuster was just "off" too, rather than "heaters available when HRW on". I was nearly right, in that it turns the mirror adjuster motors off, which is what I wanted to do!

I have encountered the opposite problem. I have 2 young kids, and have the rear windows switched off, but occationally catch the kiddie switch and switch them on, only to realise when the girls are leaning out of the back windows!!!

Might one suggest using applied psychology when you catch them doing it then?
