Recommendations for independent garages in Devon?

Featured Replies

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but I have tried searching the site only to find hundreds of pages telling me about great places in Aberdeen etc.. Nothing down here in Janner land.

Is there anybody out there with positive experiences from an independent place? My Fabia 1.4 is coming up to 50K miles, so it is time for a service & a cam belt change. Living near Dartmouth, anywhere within an area contained by Exeter, Plymouth & the wet stuff would do.

Coming from a long line of Devonshire ancestors, I'm naturally slow witted & poor. Also old & tired of being skanked by dealers. If there is a better alternative then I'm interested.

Cheers,

Ray.

I know it may be a bit far but theres a really good one at St Agnes ,near truro ,I had mine done there today and they are **** hot . May be a good excuse for a bit of cornish sunshine and a visit to the beach . :)

My car gets all it's servicing done by my mate - who essentially built my car. Sure he could do an oil change and a cambelt swap on a 1.4. :) Has all the right tools anyway. garage is located in Haytor village - Not too far from you. :)

PM me for more info. :) My car's actually getting an oil change there this saturday. Maybe a joint fabia service. :D

Thanks for these suggestions folks.

I'll be getting some figures from the place in Ivybridge - that would be the most convenient location.

Cheers,

Ray.

Just a quick update. Ivybridge seem to have given up. I ended up using Totnes Auto Services on 01803 867240 . Small independent place run by (Kevin?) Hoare, just at the bottom of the bypass. Helpful, didn't feel ripped off etc. Cam belt change & service cost me £325 incl. VAT. I'll probably go back there.
