New Fabia Knocking Sound

Featured Replies

I owned a beautiful Fabia Blackline for 5 years and got a 1.4 Fabia 2 TDI 80 BHP last year. I personally do not think the handling is as solid as the old shape Fabia and has developed a distinct front end knocking / clanging sound when cornering at low speeds. The garage to their immense credit is doing everything it can to help. Just about the whole front end steering and wheel mechanism has been replaced and a week later the knocking came back. It's back in for repairs again. Any similar probs experience by anyone else or ideas what it could be? Is it possible I have a 'duff' car, one that cannot be fixed whatever is done to it or is that just an urban myth!

It's possible hope that's not the case:(...

Not saying this is it yet have them look at the "Front Lower Rear Wishbone Bushings". A known fault that's carried over from the previous generation. Have them replaced with the Seat Cupra solid bushing. Might push them to do the labor on the house while they've got it all apart & the parts aren't much more than chips. If nothing else this will tighten things up a bit for you!

Additional Problem: Maybe it's just me getting used to a diesel but has anyone else experienced a slight clanking sound when engaging gear at various speedsThe sound is like a clunk / rattle under the middle of the body and occurs usually when changing gear (usually down). It's not a particularly harsh or unpleasant sound but can be irritating

I get a clonking noise when I take my foot off the accelerator and then press down again. It might just be any slack being taken up.

Fixed last week, but knocking sound & front end knock came back after 6 days. That was the 4th time it's been 'fixed'. Taking it back next weel. Have I got a case for a replacement car after 10 months?
