That annoying connection noise

Featured Replies

We have had many discussions on how to turn down/off over tine.

I am pleased to announce that Gizmo69 has turned it off!

It can ONLY be done via VCDS.

You still can see the connection, you just don't hear it any more.

Many thanks Martin. Top man.

Nice touch. I hate the way the music disappears briefly when it connects!

Yes, it is rather loud emoticon-0120-doh.gif

No problem Mike

It's nice to know this 'feature' :dull: can be disabled as a visual acknowledgement is more than enough IMO

Just a pity we couldn't find how to turn off the poxy "Safe Securing" notice when you remove the key emoticon-0106-crying.gif

(nice to actually see the notice though as yours is the 1st car that I had seen it on)

Yes, shame about that annoying message. We WILL find it one day and be able to turn it off emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Drat! We spoke about this Martin but then did not investigate it further! Well another time. Please just remember what you had done or post here where others can find it to disable it as well. Thanks.

I know it's all a matter of taste but they are extremely minor events in my opinion and the music from the radio only stops for a nanosecond while the phone connects. I quite like the fact you have audio confirmation that it has connected and I barely notice the secure locking thing. Being used to vehicles that have had few bells and whistles I find them all quite alluring :)

I would be very grateful indeed if Gizmo69- Martin- could post up the coding for this. I am routinely a radio 4 listener and frequently find the "boing" interrupts something I am listening to. When I get home it has been known to disturb my daughter whose window is just above where I park.

Most music I agree can lose a bar or two but it is annoying, intrusive and unnecessary.

Here you go JCP:

Go to 77: Telephone

Click on Adaptation -10

Open the drop down menu and go to around 3/4's the way down the page and you will see some thing like "Bluetooth connection" (I forget what it was called :giggle: but it is pretty obvious when you see it!) click on it and change the setting.

OR if you are feeling brave the quicker way would be to:

Go to 77 : Telephone

Click on Coding - 07

Then change the long coding (which on all 3 Yeti's I have coded have been the same) from 0200000000010110 to 0201000000010110 (note the 4th digit has changed from a zero to a one)

Happy coding

(my Superb also starts with 0201)

Many thanks for a prompt and perfect reply. I have found a local VAG independent with VCDS (who got my MDI working in 2 minutes) He is obviously comfortable with the software but has had little call for modding. I asked about staging the clocks but he hadn't come across it as a notion. Is that as easy?

Yes once you understand how to make the changes there are no difficult ones (apart from the 'masked' ones emoticon-0106-crying.gif ) .... the difficulty is finding what can and can't be done in the first place :giggle:

The staging is done slightly differently as it is found under 'Adaptation' (rather than 'Coding') but once found it is simply a case of activating it.

I like the bong but don't understand why it's level is based on the phone volume. If I turn the phone volume up so I can hear the phone, the bong is too loud. It should be a separate control. BONG

Ah Martin, if only I'd known you could turn that bloomin' boinging off when I was with you yesterday- it drives me mad! Not the fact that it does it, it's just so loud! I've taken to pulling a wincing facial expression every time I get out expecting it to chime. All the other bits you did with the VCDS are magic-Stage sweeping, foglight night time approach, Austrailian maxidot etc. thankyou, you' the man!

Yes very sorry about that Lawrence, but I forgot all about that one (yet I had only done it a few hours earlier!! :giggle: ) I can always correct this when you are next passing

The same offer goes to you as well Johann

I'm sure I managed to turn the 'Bong' down to an acceptable level using the volume control on the steering wheel?

It's a while ago since I did it so I can't fully recall the procedure.

I managed it too - but then the phone is very quiet.......

I did that as well but given the option of turning it off.

I did. You still see the phone connecting on the Maxidot and on the Columbus.

You just press the left scroll wheel once and then turn the wheel to where you want the volume. BUT it also turns down the volume the caller will be heard at. Doh Å koda. How daft.

Thanks Martin. Next time I'm that way for sure.
