Any recalls Octavia DMF

VAG Recalls Octavia

Hi

Anyone out there know where I can access details of VAG recalls.

Particularly interested in anything relating to clutch / dual mass flywheel on 2009 Octavia 1.9 Tdi.

A post on another forum makes reference to a 'Technical Recall' covering the clutch/dual mass flywheel on the 2009 1.9 Tdi Golf+.

I am wondering if this might cover the Octavia as well, given it uses the same engine.

No sign of anything on VOSA but I am wondering if this 'Technical Recal' is not compulsory or of a lower category recall and therefore not included.

What would be really handy would be any reference number/exact date/title of this recall.

When I decided to go diesel after 30 years of petrol I thought all I had to worry about was avoiding the dreaded particulate filter - Oh how foolish

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Spare a thought for us mugs that are petrol drivers that have a DMF, thing is driving me crazy.

Contact SUK and see what they say or a local Dealer that may be of help.

Are you getting any symptons of DMF failure at all?

How come u dont here of any vrs diesels giving DMf problems or have they an updated one to handle the power?

I was told by my dealer that SUK are replacing every 1.9tdi that has a DMF fault with SMF,s.Mine was done under warranty at 35K and as MIke says it totally transforms the car into a real pleasant drive which is smooth,no vibrations and noises and very responsive.

I guess that's not a rceall, then, just a routine procedure if it does fail.

Hi

As original poster - thanks to all who responded.

My situation is that my recently purchased (Skoda Dealer and warranty) 1.9 Tdi is showing early stages of DMF failure. - Not yet at the undrivable / almighty almighty bangs stage. This is of course a tricky stage as with a few more revs and by digging less deeply into the engines reserves of torque it is still drivable.

A couple of responses obviously show a good experience with the Skoda SMF conversion.

In other internet tales it's about this time that the dire warnings of the dangers of SMF conversion appear.

I am aware that all SMF kits are not equal. If converting I would most likely be looking at the genuine Skoda kit.

So my question is what has been your experience -good or bad - with the Skoda SMF conversion?

If you have had a SMF conversion done by a Skoda dealer did it come with any warnings?

Thank you

Agreed don,t believe those internet tales about SMF dangers as there isn,t any.Mine was done by Skoda dealer and all genuine fitted including new clutch as instructed by SUK.I have done nearly 16K with this conversion and its absolutely faultless.

They should all be like this off the production line.

I had mine changed to a single system at 40,000 miles I have just had the clutch only and the release bearing done again at 190000, could have done loads more miles but the release bearing was dong my head in ratteling away when at idle

I notice Valeo have just recently started producing these SMF conversion kits for the 2.0 TDi PD Octavia now. I think I'll give one a try on mine when the DMF eventually fails.

Has anyone else on here tried one on a 2.0 yet?

Just reading through the posts and wondering if I'm having the same problem can anybody advise. I have a 07 octavia vrs and fortunately had all my injectors changed on a recall but have just noticed when Im in neutral and engage the clutch on release get a grinding noise COULD THIS BR THE DMF.

I seem to remember the one on the golf plus was an issue that could potentially cause a fire.

I don't recall the DMF having a recall as such, but they do get changed under warranty if they are indeed faulty.

I have a 2006 Octy VRS petrol and am getting a quiet tinny grinding noise when low in the rev range while building up my rpm/speed. pulling away from junctions, especially on hills does seem to be a bit of a fine balance. I sometimes have to very slightly go back onto the clutch for a split second to smooth things outas I pull off.

I'm not in my wildest dreams expecting any free work from SUK to have the fault (if there is one) rectified but it only has 36k and has a full history. Migtht get a bit of goodwill.

I'll contact them over the next few days and pose the question.
