Wheel Bolts for Alloys v Steels

Featured Replies

Hi all, finally got around to getting some new shoes ordered for the girl. I'm getting a set of Hankook Ventus Evo K137 235/45 ZR18 98Y XL put onto the Pegasus alloys. I was considering changing out the locking wheel nut for just a regular nut? Which then prompted the second question, I picked up a set of Alcar 9021 17inch Steelies for Winter Tyres, do I need to run seperate nuts due to the alloy v steel nature? I was looking on autodoc to try and order some nuts as I didn't know how often they need to be changed if at all and noticed there were different ones for alloys v steels.

Appreciate your help!

Unless you damage a nut, or become rusty, there should be no need to replace them, especially if they are torqued correctly.

You can clean them with a metal brush if is superficial corrosion.

Some cars have different nuts between steelies and alloys, right, but not in this case.
