ICE Options 2012 Roomster SE+

Featured Replies

I currently have a 2012 Roomster SE+, fitted with a 2 DIN Swing radio/CD.

The sound quality is fine, although I do miss the touch screen functionality of the Bolero in my old MKII Octavia 4x4.

Can I retrofit a Bolero or Columbus in place of the Swing unit?

The car has rear parking sensors, MDI and a 4 spoke multifunction steering wheel.

I have had a search around the forum, but cannot find any definitive answers.

Anyone?

If it's of any assistance, I've put a Columbus in my Fabia Monte Carlo, which has MDI as standard, and everything has hooked up fine

Can't see any reason why it shouldn't hook in with the sensors and steering wheel, even if it needs a bit of tweaking with VCDS

I now know the Bolero from an Octavia doesn't physically fit in the space left by the Swing!

I guess this means an Octavia Columbus won't fit either?

How is it possible to fit Swing and Amudsen but not Bolero ? Did you asked your dealer?

The dealer advised that a bolero would physically fit, although they weren't sure if the "extras" would work. As it turned out the climate and parking sensor display worked, as did the MDI. The only issue was it was too wide at the top!

According to various posts I've read there are 2 types / shapes of Bolero / Columbus. These is one that fits the Octavia / Yeti and another that fits the Fabia / Superb.

New to me unfortunately - hence the "for sale" ad.

Oh! What a dissapointment!

1. I cannot understand why dealers are unable to provide such a piece of information. This should be a piece of cake according to their online connection to the factory plus their VCDS, VAS, ETKA, ELSA, SALSA, SAMBA, black MAMBA etc.

2. Maybe factory, importers and local dealers, should read forums such as Briskoda and other Skoda forums and clubs spread around the world. It seems to me that we know their products better than they do, plus all these forums are free online problem - solution databases and a 24/7 live customer's satisfaction survey and a great pool of what people's needs and wishes are.
