What's the strangest thing you've seen at the side of the road?

Featured Replies

Was sat in a traffic jam this morning on the M1, outside lane and to be honest don't really take much notice of what's lurking the central reservation but as I slowly creeping towards my destination I noticed a coil spring just sitting there, looked like it should have been off a car or something, was relatively new looking also.

Had it fallen off a lorry, come off a car during a bump or.................????

Not that strange I guess but what else have you seen on your travels?

Dead body...........in Nigeria!

A rover 214 with a blown head gasket....No, wait. That's most days lol.

Dead body also. Just randomly on the side of the road in the UK.

A roof rack with the luggage still attached, looked like it had been there for quite abit lol

Can believe it in Nigeria but in the UK, where?

The dead body that is, not the Rover!

Probably Glasgow, bloody things are everywhere blocking the paths and roads.

Single shoes are probably the normal 'odd' thing to see on the road. I've never heard a decent explanation for it.

On my way to work one morning travelling down the A614 in Nottinghamshire. 5-0 turned up and placed a blanket over the body and awaited the ambulance crew i assume?

The UK's not perfect you know lol...

14 dead badgers on a run into north wales at the weekend, not in one big pile.. just scattered across my 200 mile drive there and back.

^^ nice one, lol

once saw a moto-cross bike bouncing down the motorway. Luckily it didn't bounce in my direction! Overtook a car with an empty trailer and trailing tie down straps a few hundred yards later - oblivious to his loss of cargo!!

Leopard on its side on the E4 heading south. Some army bloke was tearing his hair out next to it. How the bloke lost a 62 tonne tank while travelling in a straight line will baffle me until the day I die.

Me and my mates were driving to cornwall around 6am, we was on the a30 to find a van on its roof with the wheels still spinning! the gravel from the verge was all over the road, so we went round to the van and hoped to god that there wasn't a dead body!

We was lucky to see him alive trying to call for help, he was more worried about his flask being broken!

He was fine, so we carried on with out journey!

I've also been sat in a jam on the M1 and watched a family of mice working their way through the weeds and rubbish in the central reservation.

Not sure where they were going but that's one hell of a noisy place to live!

some random 4x4 facing the wrong way on the hard shoulder of the m40 with an upside down caravan still attached

Not that long after they put in the concrete barrier on the M25 near junction 11/12 I saw a car perfectly balanced on top across the barrier with wheels either side.

No damage that I saw, but a confused looking lady standing on the barrier being helped down by some police officers.

Once going on holiday coming out of tunnel on m25 to see a tanker on other side with a car sideways on the front of it been pushed down road with driver and passengers still in it.

Also had a kid on a motorbike come off in front of me on way to work after car coming otherway swerve into middle of road and made car in front of him slam on

A set of car keys on the side of the A3. No paths around for miles. Surely you'd need the keys to continue your journey..?

My Mum thumbing a lift near Cambridge A11, She had run out of petrol coming home from relatives and I was working in the area. At the time I thought it was someone who looked liked Mum but carried on for a couple of miles and curiosity got the better of me so went back.

I was travelling back from working in Scotland along the m6 when a blizzard hit. Just as I was leaving the blizzard I seen a Ka on its roof still spinning.

BMW 3series on fire on the m62, whole car was on fire :(

Van with its engine by on fire and the driver handing less than 2foot from the van looking at the fire :S

Also found a could of mobile phones over the years near a local supermarket :)

A 16 ft caravan on its side with all it's contents strewn across a dual carriageway, in the jack-knife position with the car still attached and the cars rear wheels suspended 3ft off the ground at odd angles.

Three men tugging at the hitch until it suddenly gave and then the car rear smacking the tarmac hard. The car was a Hillman Imp.

If anyone finds a Ciline Dion tape by the M1 its mine, my mates got fed up of me singing the titanic and French song at the top of my voice after 3 hours lol

I'm sure I've seen plenty of strange things, but at the moment I can't remember them.

I can remember seeing a fold up chair of some sort in the middle of the road on a motorway. I can't remember if it was in Kent or on the Motorway near Scunny. I remember I was driving and my dad phoned and reported it to the police.

Once saw a merc sprinter on its side in a field about 40ft lower then the carriageway.

And a motorhome, think it was on the M180, smashed to death, the front where you sit to drive was fine but the back had torn off and the bed was in the middle lane.
