Bucket seats

Featured Replies

I have been looking at many bucket seats, they range from around £125 to £5k, obviously I have a budget and will not be spending £5k on a seat.

I want some seats for the Golf as it will be doing track days for the rest if its days.

Can anybody recommend a seat to me, or are you selling a seat or any help on what I should be looking for in a bucket seat.

Thanks for your help.

If you want to go mad I have two full carbon fibre bucket seats with mounts, which take a five point harness or a regular seatbelt.

They are Tillet B1 racing seats (google?) and cost around £3,500 for the pair with soft panels.

Each seat weighs under 4kg...

Obviously I wouldn't want that much for them... they have been used once in my Fabia.

soot1e posted a link above, I don't think I will be going that mad Richard, I like the idea of weight reduction but when my 100 kgs sits in it I probably won't notice the difference lol.

I have been looking at some of the rally forums and race forums as there will be a lot of out of date seats and harnesses because of the rules from the FIA, something like that will be ideal for what I want.

Out of interest though, you say you wouldn't want much for them, Pm me what isn't much...

Yes, that's the ones Pasty. :) (edit: your post has vanished...)

I bought them for my 4x4 Fabia, which never happened so they went in the Fabia for Brisky How Fast (once).

I'm not sure if they are ideal for the Citigo, but the thought of buying two more expensive seats when I still have these irks me a bit.

Will PM you a price James, but I regret to say it's not going to be cheap-cheap as otherwise I'll probably put them in the Citigo for now (at least it'll keep the weight down!) to save me having to buy two new ones for thousands of pounds...

I would put them in the citi go Richard.

Like a berk I got blue flashess put in them to match the piping on the Fabia mk1 VRS SE seats... so the pads all need to be removed and redone.

It seemed a good idea at the time.

Sorry to take your thread off on a bit of a tangent BTW...

can you see the blue when you are sitting in them? Didn't think so, maybe my attention to detail isn't as perfect as yours. I would be happy with blue seats and red harnesses, it is all about the mechanics, good running order, good suspension, brakes and tyres etc, but the car can look like, well what it is a 17 year old GTi with 123,000 miles on it.

I'm odd. What can I say? :)

I have these in my Escort track car (in black): http://www.cobraseats.com/Evolution-Pro

They cost me around £500 each from JJC almost a year ago. JJC's customer service was very poor though. You will need side mounted brackets, which are around £60 (I have Cobra side mounts) and some mounting rails which are also about £60 a side. I had MSA approved rails welded in and I spent around the same money having them fitted as I did on the seats themselves, so it's not cheap unless your handy with the angle grinder and welder yourself.

Also you'll need harnesses; I have 4 point Sparco's in mine.

If you can wait a few months I may be selling the seats from my track car. I may sell the car but may break it if there's not enough interest. Just haven't decided what I want to do yet...
